Everyone remembers, at least in some part, Winnie the Pooh from their childhood. I had Winnie the Pooh books read to me when I was a child, and I've always been able to remember certain bits of the book from all that time ago.
What was most prominent however, was not the storyline, but rather the individual and distinct characters from the story. Aged just 5 or 6, I understood how excitable Tigger was; he almost scared me a little as it seemed completely uncontrollable. That said, he was still very lovable and firm favourite. I always felt sorry for Eeyore, even at such a young age I realised how depressed he was and I wanted to comfort him!
